Oaths are VEILBREAK’s match-based survival upgrades. Each Oath has a fixed core identity, a distinct arcade crest, a purchase cost inside the map, and a dedicated Oath Tree that develops through persistent mastery.
An Oath should solve a real problem in a build. Ironblood protects the player who needs a larger survival margin. Quickhand keeps weapons responsive. Fleetstep protects movement. Deadeye rewards precision. The remaining Oaths create recovery, control, and elemental pressure.
The Eight Oaths
Ironblood
A survival Oath focused on durability, damage resistance, and emergency endurance. It is the safest first purchase for players still learning a map’s routes.
Quickhand
A handling Oath that improves reload speed, weapon swapping, and the time spent vulnerable between actions. It is strongest with weapons that are powerful but slow to cycle.
Fleetstep
A movement Oath built around sustained traversal, repositioning, and escape. It supports high-round routing and players who survive by maintaining space.
Deadeye
A precision Oath that strengthens accurate fire and critical damage. It rewards controlled aim rather than indiscriminate output.
Second Breath
A recovery Oath that supports revives, post-damage recovery, and returning from failure. It becomes especially valuable in co-op and quest attempts with long setup times.
Webweaver
A control Oath that slows, traps, or entangles enemies to create breathing room. It is designed for holding objectives and protecting narrow routes.
Undertow Tonic
An elemental control Oath that manipulates enemy movement and pressure through undertow effects. It can pull a collapsing route back under control.
Voltaic Vigor
An aggressive elemental Oath that channels electrical effects into damage and chain pressure. It supports fast combat builds that want to keep attacking.
How Oath Trees Work
Every Oath has its own mastery tree. Progress earned with Ironblood advances Ironblood only. Tiers open in sequence, while paths allow the Oath to lean toward different expressions of its core identity.
The tree does not remove the base effect or turn the Oath into something unrelated. Ironblood always remains defensive. Quickhand always remains a handling upgrade. Paths specialize an identity rather than replacing it.
Building an Oath Set
Start with one survival answer, one damage or handling answer, and one movement or control answer. Buying eight Oaths without a plan may increase raw power, but it does not automatically create a coherent build.
- Safe learning build: Ironblood, Fleetstep, Quickhand, Second Breath.
- Precision build: Deadeye, Quickhand, Fleetstep, Voltaic Vigor.
- Objective-control build: Ironblood, Webweaver, Undertow Tonic, Second Breath.
- Aggressive elemental build: Voltaic Vigor, Undertow Tonic, Quickhand, Deadeye.
Oath XP and Mastery
Oath XP is earned by using the Oath during active play and completing relevant goals. Oath XP Tokens can accelerate the process and may be activated during a strong deployment. Mastery remains saved through Prestige.
Reading Oaths on the HUD
Each crest uses colour, silhouette, and a central symbol to remain recognizable at HUD scale. The current lineup is Ironblood in red, Quickhand in green, Fleetstep in yellow, Deadeye in dark grey, Second Breath in blue, Webweaver in yellow and purple, Undertow Tonic in yellow and green, and Voltaic Vigor in yellow and red.
