Progression in VEILBREAK: DEAD SIGNAL is split into several clear tracks. Account Levels define the main climb, Prestige marks long-term milestones, Oath mastery develops survival upgrades, Weapon Mastery rewards commitment to the arsenal, and challenge records preserve what you have accomplished across every map and mode.

The system is designed so a deployment can always move something forward. A high-round attempt, a Main Quest run, a new weapon experiment, and a difficult Custom Mutations match all contribute differently without forcing every player into the same grind.

Progress never depends on one mode. Standard is the complete baseline, Guided supports quest learning, Surge rewards faster high-pressure play, and Custom Mutations adjusts XP to match the rules you select.

The Five Progression Tracks

Account Levels

Account XP is the broad progression layer. It is earned through completed rounds, eliminations, challenges, map objectives, quest completions, and match results. Level unlocks expand the tools available before deployment and provide a readable path toward Prestige.

Prestige

Prestige is the long-term account milestone. Entering Prestige restarts the level climb while preserving the progression that represents actual mastery: completed quests, Oath development, Weapon Mastery, challenge records, unlocked cosmetics, and saved player identity.

Prestige milestones also unlock alternate HUD Themes. The current milestone structure awards themes at Prestige 1, Prestige 3, Prestige 5, and Prestige 8, allowing the interface itself to reflect long-term commitment.

Oath Mastery

Each of the eight Oaths advances independently. Using an Oath and completing its associated goals earns mastery progress, opening tiers and paths inside its dedicated Oath Tree. Ironblood does not progress because Quickhand was used, and Fleetstep does not inherit progress from Deadeye. Every Oath has its own identity and its own climb.

Weapon Mastery

Weapon Mastery tracks the weapons you actually bring into combat. Progress is tied to use, eliminations, precision, Forge investment, and weapon-specific goals. The result is a record of what you have mastered rather than a single universal bar attached to the entire arsenal.

Challenges and Quest Records

Challenges reward deliberate goals beyond ordinary survival. Main Quest completions, map records, hidden objectives, difficulty accomplishments, and Dark Ops-style discoveries remain visible as permanent records. Opening and ending cinematics are also stored in the Cutscene Viewer once their requirements have been met.

How XP Is Awarded

VEILBREAK values meaningful play rather than time spent standing in a match. XP is awarded for active combat, completed rounds, major objectives, quest progress, successful extractions or match conclusions where applicable, and challenges. Higher-pressure rules can increase reward, while settings that heavily reduce difficulty also reduce XP.

Custom Mutations displays its XP modifier before deployment. Main Quests are disabled in Custom Mutations because extreme starting conditions and enemy rules can break the intended quest structure.

XP Tokens

XP Tokens are divided into General XP, Weapon XP, and Oath XP. A General token accelerates the Account Level climb. A Weapon token focuses on the equipped arsenal. An Oath token increases mastery earned by the Oaths used during the deployment.

Tokens can be activated in-match, allowing players to use them when a strong run is already established instead of committing them blindly before loading into a map.

Saving and Progress Transfer

Progress is stored through the game’s saving system. Account state, challenge records, Prestige, Weapon Mastery, Oath Trees, settings, unlocked HUD Themes, and cinematic records are preserved between sessions.

The Export File option creates a transferable progress file for moving the current profile to another supported installation. Players should still keep a separate backup before replacing an existing profile.

What to Prioritize First

  1. Learn one launch map well enough to activate its central systems and reach the Forge reliably.
  2. Choose two or three Oaths that support the way you already play instead of spreading mastery across all eight immediately.
  3. Commit to a small weapon group so Weapon Mastery unlocks arrive at a useful pace.
  4. Use Guided Mode to learn Main Quest structure, then move to Standard when you want the complete discovery experience.
  5. Enter Prestige when you are ready to repeat the level climb; permanent mastery and quest records remain intact.

Progression at Full Release

The November 5, 2026 release brings Account Levels, Prestige, Oath Trees, Weapon Mastery, challenges, saving, progress export, HUD Theme milestones, and the Cutscene Viewer together as one connected progression ecosystem.

The purpose is simple: every deployment should leave a permanent record, but permanent progression should never replace the need to survive the match in front of you.
