This week's patch notes addresses major problems across both Multiplayer and Missions. Expect Battle Royale to get Patch Notes next week.

Multiplayer

Modes

Grief

Since launch, Grief has had some great reception from the community with it being played more than we expected. That calls for some quality of life changes and bug fixes.

From now on, players will be able to eliminate enemies only when your team manages to "Grief" the enemy. Each kill is worth 1 point while each Grief is worth 5. The score requirement remains at 100 points.

We have a lot of things to look into for Grief, so we're pleased to get these patch notes out this fast. Thank you for playing Grief!

We've looked at the gameplay Missions and believe it is in a great spot. We are actively working on brand new content for future seasons, and Season 03 Reloaded.

Season 03 brings some major bug fixes specifically for the mode.

Core

General

Modern Ops 2 has been in a great position in stability across all modes. We are always working each day on ensuring the game stays as stable as possible.

The new season has been live for a little bit now, and we're bringing some further adjustments to the Scorestreaks with the launch of Season 03.

But firstly, we understand that the nerfs to the Scorestreaks have been made out of nowhere and are seen as pointless in a variety of areas in the game. Today, we're making changes to that.

Multiplayer

Scorestreaks

Hey everyone — we want to take a moment to talk about the Scorestreak changes that went live with Season 03.

The goal with those adjustments was to reduce overall streak uptime and create more room for counterplay across matches. But it’s clear we didn’t quite hit the mark. Some of the core streaks ended up feeling far less rewarding than intended, especially when compared to their previous consistency and impact.

We’ve seen a lot of your feedback over the past few days, and we agree — earning a streak should feel meaningful, and right now some of them just aren’t delivering that experience.

With this update, we’re making targeted adjustments to improve reliability, duration, and overall effectiveness for several core streaks without undoing the broader balance goals introduced in Season 03. These changes are live now, and we’ll continue monitoring performance and feedback moving forward.

Thanks as always for the feedback — it’s a big part of how we shape these updates.

WELCOME TO SEASON 03

Season 03 Cinematic

Raise the stakes in Season 03, the next massive content update arriving in Modern Ops 2. Deploy into the new Multiplayer battleground Blackridge, experience the chaotic new Grief mode, and prepare for ongoing seasonal updates across Ranked Play, Battle Royale, and more.

Season 03 expands the battlefield with new weapons, events, challenges, and systems designed to evolve the core experience. Investigate the growing instability across global military networks, uncover new threats, and adapt to a war where technology itself is beginning to fail.

Get the full breakdown below so you're ready to deploy when Season 03 launches on Friday, April 10.

The Story So Far

As global communications infrastructure begins to fracture, operators are deployed into increasingly unstable combat zones where systems can no longer be trusted. What began as isolated interference has escalated into a widespread network disruption, affecting targeting systems, battlefield coordination, and advanced military technology.

With critical facilities compromised and unknown forces manipulating the network, operators must push deeper into contested territory to uncover the source of the disruption. Every engagement now carries a new risk — because the enemy isn’t just watching... it’s embedded within the systems you rely on.

Weapons

Assault Rifles

Assault Rifles have consistently offered too much reliability across all engagement ranges. This update targets overly stable recoil patterns and forgiving damage profiles, bringing them more in line with their intended role as versatile, but not dominant, options.

Battle Rifles

Battle Rifles have leaned too heavily into high damage output with manageable recoil, allowing them to dominate mid-range fights. This pass reduces their consistency while preserving their high-risk, high-reward identity.

Submachine Guns

Submachine Guns have been outperforming expectations in close-range engagements, largely due to extremely fast fire rates and high mobility. Adjustments have been made to reduce their effectiveness in sustained fights while maintaining their strength in aggressive playstyles.

Shotguns

Shotguns have shown inconsistent performance, with some weapons being overly forgiving at range while others struggled to compete. Changes focus on tightening one-shot potential and improving overall reliability across the category.

Light Machine Guns

Light Machine Guns have offered too much control for their damage and range capabilities. This update introduces increased recoil and handling penalties to better emphasize their role as sustained fire weapons rather than flexible alternatives to Assault Rifles.
